Who am I?
One of the most important topics I learned - is to be an eclectic Social Worker. What does that mean? For me it means utilizing various approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, Seeking Safety, Mindfulness, Strength Based Techniques to meet you, the adult, the adolescent, the couple, and the family exactly where you are.
I genuinely believe that people do better when they have an understanding as to what they are experiencing emotionally, physically, and mentally…and are more likely going to believe in the strategies learned. I like to provide psychoeducation on your symptoms to alleviate any stigma you may feel and help validate you and your experiences.
I specialize in anxiety, depression, trauma and abuse, self-esteem, substance use, as well as those feelings that you can’t describe but just feeling “off.” My approach is to utilize your own strengths, provide information, model and teach interventions to help you on your journey and path to alleviate that uncomfortable feeling that may be difficult to describe. One of the hardest things to do is to reach out for assistance in a life where we are all doing the best we can. Which is where I hope to provide that support.
One of the DBT mottos is “You are doing the best you can and you can be doing better.” I know that is true for you too!!
